GOOPiMADE was founded in 2014 in Taipei by Taiwanese designer KT Hsu as a contemporary luxury menswear brand specifically focused on what Hsu described as 'a deliberately-Taiwanese-architectural contemporary-luxury menswear vocabulary anchored to deliberately-experimental technical-fabric construction and contemporary architectural-tailoring proportions.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2014 Taiwanese-anchored contemporary-luxury-menswear brands. The GOOPiMADE vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: deconstructed technical-fabric tailored separates with deliberately-architectural proportional construction, hand-printed silk and cotton shirts with deliberately-conceptual graphic-motif references, the brand's iconic GOOPiMADE technical-fabric outerwear programme (deliberately-engineered with hardware-anchored construction), deconstructed denim with deliberately-architectural construction, and a colour palette anchored to washed-black, washed-navy, oxblood, ecru, washed-charcoal, plus the brand's recurring use of technical-grey, natural-indigo, and the iconic Taiwanese-architectural-menswear aesthetic colour combinations. The brand is independent and held by Hsu. GOOPiMADE operates flagship retail in Taipei (the brand's home flagship) plus international wholesale through SSENSE, MR PORTER, MATCHES, Dover Street Market, GR8, Lane Crawford, the Boontheshop network in Seoul, and a curated set of contemporary-luxury-menswear specialty retailers globally. The brand has been one of the more conceptually rigorous post-2014 Taiwanese-anchored 'architectural-technical-menswear' brands.
